The Cerrad Group launches their innovative, large-format production line

The Cerrad Group launches their innovative, large-format production line with an annual production capacity of 65 million ft2. In 2022, the manufacturer will be focusing on environmentally friendly solutions.

The manufacturer invested over $47 million in groundbreaking technology. The newly launched pilot production line, after all tests are finished and all innovations are fully implemented, will allow for the introduction of new and unique products onto the market. It will also help to reduce the demand for raw materials, water and energy, all the meanwhile increasing productivity and decreasing impact on the natural environment.

January marked the start of operations for the line dedicated to the production of large-format, ceramic tiles in the gres technology, with the utilization of soft waste material created at the product formation stage, and one that allows for the generation of products with a much deeper structure. The project is being completed in collaboration with a scientific team from the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics at the University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Kraków, on the basis of the Agreement with the National Center for Research and Development.

The project required in-depth research and development analysis, primarily for the establishment of optimal parameters for the mixture composition. New and groundbreaking processing solutions were formed that now make it possible for all soft waste generated at the product formation stage to be returned and then reused to manufacture full-value ceramic tiles. These tiles retain the high physical, chemical and strength parameters of large-format ceramic tiles, including tiles that have a structure depth that for this group of raw materials, has not yet been seen on the market (even at a depth of up to 0,12 inches).

– An important project such as this one, is our response to the global climate changes and the growing market demand for high quality ceramic tiles, while taking into account the pro-environment aspect of the technology. Raising the innovative potential of our company will not only allow us to achieve technological and product advantages, but it will also help us increase our production capacity from 20 to 25 million annually. In addition, thanks to the expansion of the plant, over 120 new employment opportunities will be created, which for our region and Starachwowice itself, is of great added value – comments Paweł Bąk, CEO of the Cerrad Group.

Cerrad received funding for the construction of the line from the European Union, under the Intelligent Development Operational Program – “Fast Track” competition for the sum of $12 million. The total value of the project exceeded $47 million.

Confirmation that Cerrad focuses on innovation and the expansion of its product offer, while at the same time being a socially responsible enterprise, is evident through the other projects that the company is involved in.

We are currently in the process of completing a few investment projects with a total worth exceeding $125 million, most of which are co-financed by public funds. The projects in question have been recognized by such institutions and entrepreneurial support organizations as: the National Center for Research and Development, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the Ministry of Technology and Development under the Polish Investment Zone program. This is mainly due to the fact that they are innovative, environmentally friendly and create new employment opportunitiessays Robert Cholewiński, EU Project Manager at Cerrad.

The company’s plans include many more investments, with each one aimed at the implementation of new technologies in the production of ceramic tiles, while having a positive effect on the natural environment. Let’s hope that the current situation related to the extremely difficult political situation in Ukraine, and the impact it may have on all functioning industries, will allow the manufacturer to continue on with the chosen strategy.
